We’ve been going for almost a year now and have never really tried to define what we are. That was probably a good idea because already we have changed many times over the last nine months as we find a format that fits us. I don’t believe we have got there yet but we have done some good stuff along the way that has helped us work out where we want to go. We have also produced some fizzers but I hope you see them as stepping stones to success (whenever that happens).
But just in case you are wondering this is how we see ourselves at the moment.
Eastern Suburbs TV (ESTV) is an online TV style magazine, a cross between a local paper and a local TV station. It is a modern response to the market need for a new form of media to replace the retiring local paper to cover local issues and issues of interest to local people. Local for us is the Eastern Suburbs and that was extended in our second month to include the city.
In the move towards Webalisation (Moving information online) we feel that local news and promotions have been left behind and still rely on local newspapers to communicate with people in specific suburbs. - But readers have moved online. The result, papers get thinner as advertisers shun them because they are not reaching the target market, consequently there is less room to cover local issues so more readers move online.

ESTV brings local news into the 21st century by delivering news, information and infotainment in a variety of formats including, Video, Audio Podcast and Text based Articles. There are also a number of social media features such as ESTV Connect and our Free Press Release service for local business with new features being added regularly.
Available twenty four hours a day seven days a week, ESTV articles and videos are aimed at workers and residents in the city and the Eastern Suburbs by providing local content on local business, events, attractions and much more.
ESTV provides opportunities for readers to meet online through our social networking features and off line by attending functions and other events for which we have obtained invitations and which are promoted in ESTV Connect.
We need to get out and visit more organisations and businesses to let them know what we can offer them especially our free press release service and for community groups we are keen to provide you with a free channel to promote your events and services to the public. We haven’t been rushing out as we wanted to reach a certain standard before we took on more but we are ready now.
So if you are a local non profit organisation and would like to have a channel in ESTV please email me by going to the contact us page and send me an email from there. Select “To the Editor” from the drop down menu and type your message in the box.
I will be back more often to tell you more about what we do and can do for you but please feel free to leave a comment or send me an email any time.
