The Internet is a great way to meet people without having to leave home but a virtual (online) acquaintance is no replacement for actually meeting and getting to know “real” people. Ric Vatner, publisher of ES TV says “it should not be an either or choice. The Internet offers the perfect opportunity to meet people or find activities that you can join if you have time that week. But it should be the first step towards actually meeting new people and trying new activities whereas for some people it has become an alternative to getting out and about.”

Introducing ESTV Connect

ESTV connect was created to make it easy for our readers to participate in a wide range of activities and meet people in a friendly and safe environment. Many of the activities we organise or promote are free or incur minor costs such as buying your own coffee at a meeting. If there are any charges, they will be clearly outlined.

Most people enjoy doing a huge range of things from meeting for a chit chat over coffee to going for walks to something more energetic like tennis or sailing. But in this busy life that we lead there is often no time to join clubs or arrange activities. ESTV connect will make it easy to find things to do even at short notice. In order to provide a wide range of interesting activities we have partnered with organisations such

  • Birrung Gallery
  • Cellinis Cafe
  • The Edge – Edgecliff Serviced Offices
  • MaMyDa

Birrung Gallery

Birrung Gallery is owned by World Vision who set it up to support Aboriginal artists in the most practical way, by providing a reliable avenue for bringing their art works to the public.

Birrung gallery has arrangements with over 30 Aboriginal Tribes to showcase their arts and crafts and sell them to the public. The benefit is that the Aboriginal artists get a bigger percentage of the sale price and the public get a good deal.

ES TV readers will be advised of each new showing and can attend the launch as our guest. “One of the things I love about Birrung Gallery is the passion and knowledge that Greg Mallyon, the gallery manager and Trudie Leigo, art consultant, bring to the table” says Ric Vatner. “As you will see from our interviews with them, they know their stuff so anyone wishing to invest in Aboriginal Art would be well advised to talk to them”. Readers can visit the gallery at 134 William St or check out the ES TV Event Calendar to find out the date of the next launch. Greg Mallyon says “We appreciate ES TV’s support and look forward to seeing ES TV readers at our launches”

Cellinis Café

Cellinis was our first sponsor and our relationship with Kelly Lee and her staff has gone from strength to strength. We were looking for a place where ES TV readers could meet and have a coffee and Cellinis in the Westfield Shopping centre was the a perfect choice.

Now we are planning a great range of events to be held at Cellinis in the QVB and at Bondi Junction as well as a breakfast club and a loyalty card.

Cellinis offer a Gluten free menu and a wide range of healthy salads and great meals at reasonable prices. Most of the staff are long term employees and share Kelly’s commitment to customer service.

Stay tuned to ES TV for more information about events at Cellinis that you will enjoy.

The Edge – Edgecliff Serviced Offices

The Edge has been one of Sydney’s premier serviced offices for over 20 years and an early supporter of ES TV. As readers will see from the videos in the Edge Views there are many successful businesses located there making it a great place to have your office. (Mention ES TV to get a very special offer on your serviced office)

In the near future we will be offering a number of events for small business owners sponsored by the Edge which will not only provide valuable information to help businesses prosper, even during the financial crisis, but they will also be a great way to network with other successful business owners.

MaMyDa.com

MaMyDa like ES TV is a product of the new Internet technology that is commonly called Web 2.0 or Social Media. MaMyDa is a social networking web site where you can find people who have similar interests so that you can do them together.

One example we liked was a new arrival to Sydney who wanted to meet people that liked going to the movies. Very soon after posting an advert on MaMyda he had a group of 5 – 8 people who regularly go to the movies together on half price Tuesday.

Another person advertised for people interested in joining him for a morning walk from Coogee to Bondi at 7 am every day.

Dagmar Geiger, the founder of MaMyDa says “If you are totally dependant on your friends to participate in activities you will often find that they are not available when you are. But MaMyDa allows you to access hundreds of people that are looking for activities to do, making it much more likely you will be able to form a group at a time of your choosing and the bonus is, you get to expand your group of friends. You can start a sewing group or a tennis group, a reading group or just meet for coffee.Go to calendar or Events tab to see more event coming up in Sydney.

I was wondering though - does MaMyDa have a website? There doesn't seem to be any links to it here on this page.

good luck!
